As you'll probably notice, most of my posts are centered around nutrition for mental health - specifically managing anxiety and boosting mood. This is a topic that I am intensely passionate about and have experienced first hand the amazing impact that proper nutrition can have on both of those things. For many years, I have been fascinated with the connection between nutrition and the mind/body experience.
Like many of you, I am a busy professional and travel often. For years, I struggled with finding the right balance between enjoying the things I love while still making sure that my body was getting what it needed to function optimally (who has time to get sick these days?). I have learned to manage my own anxiety, boost my mood and improve my energy levels by making some simple changes to the way I eat and in my daily habits.
I've always been a huge believer in research and sharing the most accurate information, and I know how frustrating it can be to be constantly bombarded with conflicting nutrition suggestions. So, in 2015 I decided to take matters into my own hands and headed down the path of becoming a Holistic Nutritionist. Since then, I have expanded my education and am always finding ways to learn more so that I can continue on my mission to educate as many people as possible about the amazing healing power of food!
I met Sue at an event in Kingston and after briefly telling her about my symptoms, she gave me a few helpful tips to try out. After trying them for a week, I already felt better and I knew that I HAD to work with her to keep improving my health!
I bought her individual nutrition coaching package and I can honestly say that it has changed the way I look at health and nutrition. The meal plan that Sue put together for me was amazing, and she really took the time to get to know my preferences and made it so easy to follow.
I have now been following her recommendations for almost two months and cannot say enough about how much better I am feeling overall. My headaches are gone, I have a lot more energy and I have lost almost 10 pounds!! I am a huge believer in Sue's programs and her depth of knowledge. When I initially started working with her, I was hesitant because of how much I thought changing some habits might impact my household, our budget and my enjoyment of food in general. I can say confidently that Sue alleviated all of those concerns almost immediately and now I cannot imagine life without her plans and support. Our family learned that we could make small adjustments that would have large impacts on how we felt.
What I loved about the program was that it was never meant to be a major overhaul that would have invariably gotten abandoned after a few weeks. This program was about learning what to limit, what to increase and which new foods or supplements could boost your body's capabilities. It is easy to follow, fun to experiment with and just generally makes you feel like a healthier, more thoughtful person.
I know that I am sleeping better, burning more healthy calories, feeling more energized and have lost over ten pounds in a little over three months. Oh, and I'm still able to enjoy my weekend indulgences whether that be nachos, beer or anything else. Working with Sue has given me a great compass so that when I step outside of the plan for a night, I know exactly how to get back on track the next day...or two days later!
